Empowering Women, Transforming Communities – A New Beginning at Jakkarpalayam Yaan Foundation firmly believes that empowering women is the foundation for building stronger, more sustainable communities. In line with this vision, we are proud to launch our Women’s Self-Help Group (SHG) initiative at Jakkarpalayam village, Sirukalanthai Panchayat, Coimbatore district. Inauguration & Inspiring Voices The program was inaugurated by Dr. A. Logamadevi, Head of the Department of Botany at NGM College, Pollachi. In her address, she highlighted that empowerment is not just about opportunities, but about the courage to seize them. She emphasized that such initiatives help rural women build their identity, improve literacy, and achieve financial independence—fostering self-belief and enabling them to emerge as strong role models within their families and communities. Mr. Richard from Subash Academy, Udumalapet—our partner—shared the academy’s vision and stressed the importance of continuous learning and skill development in today’s dynamic world. He encouraged participants to stay consistent, reminding them that small, steady efforts lead to meaningful and lasting progress. The program faculty also addressed the participants, outlining the training structure and motivating them to actively engage and benefit from the initiative. About this Program Due to the overwhelming response from Village community, the program will be conducted in multiple batches. The first batch is scheduled to commence in mid-April 2026 and will run for a duration of six months. Participants will receive hands-on training and practical exposure in Aari work, tailoring, and beautician courses. Through this Self-Help Group, women will: • Gain income-generating skills and achieve financial independence • Build self-confidence and strengthen decision-making abilities • Become part of a supportive community network • Take meaningful steps toward entrepreneurship and self-reliance
