On 2 October 2026, as part of the Gandhi Jayanthi celebrations, Yaan Foundation, in collaboration with the Tamil Nadu Forest Department, organised a Plastic and Glass Waste Collection Drive covering nearly 50 km from Varattupallam Dam to Karkendi Pallam in Erode District.

The drive was carried out in collaboration with the Anthiyur, Thamarakarai and Thattakarai Forest Ranges, with active support from NSS students of GTR School Bargur. Volunteers came together to collect plastic and glass waste along the forest roads and surrounding areas.

The initiative aimed to reduce waste pollution, protect the forest ecosystem and promote responsible waste disposal among visitors and local communities.

Through this collective effort, Yaan Foundation and the Tamil Nadu Forest Department continue to encourage community participation in keeping our forests clean, safe and environmentally sustainable.
